Sand Creek Community Schools

The Sand Creek Music Department's pre-festival concert for 7th & 8th grade band, high school band and the high school choir tomorrow, February 24th at 6:00 p.m. in the high school gym. Students need to report to the gym to set up by 5:30 p.m.

This week the Jr./Sr. High School will be celebrating National FFA. There will be dress up days that will count toward spirit war points. Monday: Flannel/Plaid Tuesday: Truck/Camo Day (Ford, Chevy, Dodge) Wednesday: Merica Day - Red/White/Blue Thursday: Animal Day - Animal Print or Animal Clothing Friday: Blue and Gold / FFA Day The FFA is also collecting pop tabs for spirit wear points. Bring your pop tabs to the office and put them in your jars by Friday, February 28th.

The elementary and jr./sr. high school will be having the Scholastic Book Fair the week of February 24-28th. The book fair will be open during the following times: * Monday - Thursday: 7:30 am - 3:15 pm * Friday: 7:30 am - 11:00 am * During Parent Teacher Conferences Stop by and support your library.

Attention parents of the class of 2023. Would you like a fundraiser that doesn't require you to sell a thing? Then you are in luck as the freshmen class is holding a pledge drive to earn money for their class. Pledges/donations will be taken anytime next week. The minimum pledge is $1 but more will be appreciated. Anyone can donate in your child's name. Three ways to donate are on www.myschoolbucks.com, turn the money into the high school office or have your child turn it in during lunch next Tuesday, Thursday or Friday.

Today for Valentine’s Day, the 6th grade ELA class went on dates. Yes dates, Blind Dates with a Book that is. The students walked about the room and read the descriptions on the newspaper wrapped books. They wrote down the book numbers that sounded interesting and then rated them. After that, the students chose their top three and then made their final choice. They opened their book and went to the Don Harlan library to check it out under their name. “Don’t judge a book by its cover!” Thank you Mrs. Mohr and Mrs. Radtke for your help in this adventure.

Mrs. Anderson's 2nd grade class completed their unit on string instrument family. Miss Morris gave each student the opportunity to try playing a violin during music class.

Today in Mrs. Frasle's third grade class they FaceTimed with Laura Rottieger who is an author that lives in Washington state. She read us her book, “Aliana Reaches for the Stars”,

This week in Mr. Frasle's chemistry classes students are using their science skills to make pasties and pot pies. The students have to measure, weigh, prepare and cook the food to temperature.

The Sand Creek After Prom is bringing a Quartermania event to our area. If you’ve never attended a Quartermania, don’t be intimidated. It’s a simple game that only takes a quarter or two to win. The School Dentist will be coming to Ruth McGregor Elementary on February 13th. If you would like to register your student to be seen on this date you can sign up online at www.myschooldentist.com or contact the elementary office.

Exams for 4th, 6th and 8th hours will be given to Jr. and Sr. High school students. There will be no TECH Center. 6th-8th Grade On Monday, during the ½ day of school, those students 6th through 8th grade that do not have to take their exams will have the opportunity to go see “Dolittle” at the Hudson Cinemas. Students that can and want to go MUST have $3 dollars to board the bus the school will pay for the rest of the ticket for the movie. Concessions will be available at the students own cost. The bus will return to the school in time for the half day dismissal.

7th graders students in Mrs. Gilbert's science class conducted a investigation to determine if the rate at which we exhale carbon dioxide (CO2) increases after a person exercises. We used Bromothymol Blue in our investigation because it changes from blue to green when CO2 is added.

The Sand Creek Girls Softball team is conducting its 6th Annual Rock-n-Bowl Fundraiser on Saturday, January 25th at Lenawee Rec in Adrian starting at 9 PM.
