The Sand Creek Community Schools Board of Education approved this morning, at a special 6 a.m. board meeting, changes to the districts COVID-19 Preparedness and Response Plan in response to the Public Health Order issued yesterday by the Lenawee Health Department. This Public Health Order (2021-1) updated quarantine requirements within the educational setting. Please see attached a copy of this Public Health Order (2021-1) as well as the response from all Lenawee County Superintendents. In summary, the following changes were approved and are effective immediately.
- Sand Creek Schools will no longer require students who were in close contact with a COVID-19 positive person while at school to quarantine from school or school-associated activities, unless quarantine is required by the Lenawee County Health Department such as in the case of a school outbreak or if the close contact occurred outside of school (for example, at home).
- We will continue to conduct contact tracing and will inform those individuals who are believed to have been in close contact with a COVID-19 positive person. The decision to quarantine will be voluntary, unless one of the situations stated above applies.
- If a close contact is or becomes symptomatic, they will be assumed positive and must quarantine.
Please contact the district with any questions.
