Pursuant to section 311 of Michigan’s Election Law, MCL 168.311(1), the Sand Creek Community Schools Board of Education is accepting written notice from qualified, interested and registered electors of Sand Creek Community Schools wishing to be appointed to serve on the Sand Creek Community Schools Board of Education.

Written notice and required materials must be submitted no later than 3:00 p.m. (EST) on Friday, May 7, 2021, to the Sand Creek Board of Education, Attn: Steven Laundra, Superintendent, 6518 Sand Creek Hwy.  Sand Creek, Michigan 49279, or via email to steve.laundra@sc-aggies.us.

Applicants must submit the following materials to be considered for appointment:

  • Written letter of interest submitted to the Superintendent by the deadline (see above).
  • A few lines of introduction, a brief bio, and motivation for applying for the open board seat should be included in the letter.
  • Proof that the applicant is a current registered voter in the Sand Creek Community Schools district.

The Sand Creek Board of Education will review applicant materials received and reserves the right to interview select candidates to ascertain their qualifications.  Appointment by the board to fill this vacancy shall be made by a majority vote of the full board on May 17, 2021.

The individual appointed by the Sand Creek Board of Education to fill the vacancy on the Sand Creek Schools Board of Education shall file an acceptance of office and hold office only until a successor is elected at the next general November election in the manner provided by law. The term would end December 31, 2022.

If the vacancy is not filled within thirty (30) days after it occurs, the Board of the Intermediate School District shall fill the vacancy by appointment.
