Our May 24th commencement date at Adrian College has been postponed and rescheduled for Saturday, June 27th, assuming Michigan’s social gathering restrictions at that time will allow it. This year’s commencement will likely take place on the Sand Creek football field. A rain-out date has been set for the following day.
Earlier this week, I attended a statewide zoom meeting with over 500 Michigan superintendents and principals on the topic of commencements. Based on what I learned about the earliest realistic chance to hold live commencements in Michigan, and based on our senior and parent feedback, June 27th is the earliest date I feel we can hope for. While we all would prefer a sooner date, many school districts across the state are currently rescheduling their live commencement’s further out than we are.
With that in mind, I’ve also scheduled three additional commencement weekends, should we continue to be forced to postpone. Essentially, if we’re unable to hold a live commencement on the weekend of June 27th, the make-up commencement dates include each weekend following the 4th of July weekend. All of these dates are posted in the email and text format of this alert. They will also be posted to our school website and Facebook page.
