Financial Aid

Financial aid is any source of funds that pays for a students college education.  Most financial aid is based on a student's financial need.  Some financial aid is based only on a student's merit.  The intent of financial aid is to make sure all students can get a college education.  Financial aid is provided by the state and federal government, institutions, and private sources.

There are four types of financial aid:

Scholarships - Awards based on merit that don't have to be repayed
Grants - awards based on need that don't have to be repayed
Loans - must be repayed with interest
Work-study programs - students work while attending school

To apply for financial aid a student must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  This can be obtained through the guidance office or apply online at www.fafsa.ed.gov
